Jogjakarta Chapter 2 (Historic Borobudur & Journey to Dieng Plateau)

5th May 2013, The sun of that morning was shining like a goldcoins, hihi..well NOT!, cos Pak Supy already awaited for us in front of the Pop Hotel at 5.00AM!

So we need to be ready and lave the hotel at about 5.30AM. yeah that early cos it take 1 hour plus to reach Borobudur, and early morning is the best time for that. So, Pak Supy drove while explaining to us the story of Borobudur, where the was a time when Buddha and Hindu is the major religion is Jogja and they involved in a war that took many lives. and then the Dutch came and colonized them. When the Dutch leaves Jogja, they took with them the heads of the Buddha statues in Borobudur to be placed at their museums, heartless isn't it? oh well, that was a long time ago, history is there for us to learned.  So, we arrived at Borobudur Buddhist temple and as usual Pak Supy bought the tix for us as we already paid him earlier. The entrance fee for foreigners is about Rp190.000 and yes we had to wear the sarong as well, this time it was blue and different from the color the locals wear. huh..weird. It was about 1km walk to borobudur, but the surrounding, the sunrise and ambiance in the early morning is sooo nice!. Check out the beautiful men in front of us..lol
Borobudur looks like hundreds of bells on top of a structure, it is called Stupa. it was very calming there. As usual we started climbing this 8th century temple, and yes we saw some of the headless Buddha statues like this.

There were about 500+ statues in Borobudur and it is one of the most unique designed Buddhist temple in south east Asia. That is why it is now a UNESCO world heritage site. we only read it in our text books, now we were on top of it!
So we started taking pictures here n there and there is this group of local tourist playing and running, the guard there scolded them lol. Their guards is pretty strict with the locals tourist, maybe to avoid vandalism so i got the point.  Borobudur also have carvings around it, and they have their 4 sides of the temple. U can see it from below pic Pradaksina, its more like a guide to tour the exotic ancient temple.
From what i heard, the Japanese love this temple, cos until now they stil have their ritual prayer done here with them sending lanterns up to the sky. It was in May, like we were there on that month. I cant remember which day of the month is it, but it is called the Waisak Festival and that was the most peak season ever for Borobudur. Maybe if u wanna experience this, u can google the date first and bought the ticket here during that week, i bet it will be interesting and share your experience! This is some pics from Borobudur. Again, lets start with Supemodel me, kikikiki :P

Compared to Prambanan, Borobudur is smaller..so after the tour we head to the place where they have food courts and souvernirs. we had breakfast here cos its just about 9AM, some sort of local cuisine.
As we were having breakfast, this buskers come and start singing at our table, hehe. They don't force us to gave tips, which i like and we gave them few thousand rupiah (of cos) as they really can sing, good voice and they also sing some Malaysian song, amazing ay :) . We continue looking at the souvenirs end up buying a few yes.

So, after that we head to Dieng Plateau, Banjarnegara. It is a highland area and it took about 2.5 hours from Borobudur..so far yes, but the view is nice. a lil resemblance to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. some of us did fall asleep, hahaha..maybe cos we woke up so early in the morning, 4.30AM!..yawnn..here is a photo that caught my attention, murah bangeeets! hihi..a mobile network add on a wall.

Sooo Cameron, hihi

Around 11.00AM we arrive at Dieng Plateau which has elevation about 2.000 meters above sea level. It was quite chilly yoo. The first destination here is the Arjuna temple. What was different with this hindu temple was that they have Teletubbies!..hahaha..yes u heard me right, teletubbies mascot. And we ran to them first, hihi. They know that we are transand they got so excited, lol..it was so funny. U can take pics of em and with em and u gave them some tips, around 10,000 - 50,000rp depends on u. It was such a unique experience, teletubbies at temple, templetubbies. :P . Here's our photo with em!

There was also some hindu deity mascot, scary yet amazing, we took pics with them also. This is Ija with em, they were so into character, i guess they will fit well in teater, hehe.

The temple was built like little hut separately, like a small chambers. What interesting is there is still people who come praying at this temple, all religions as that was their culture. we saw one guy pray there too. But overall, it was a breezy and entertaining temple :D This is the temple view and chambers with me, again..:P

and Ija..

After Arjuna temple, oh yea btw there were few other ancient temples here, but we only went to this one as we have other places to go to. So, after Arjuna, we went to Kawah Sikidang, a water crater area. The smell, well..stink..but the places is like an area that has been bombed. maybe cos of the heat from below.

and here we are stepping into the atomic scene

The water was boiling and u cannot go in there at all. i guess there are a few that u can dip your legs in it. we didnt spend much time here as it was burning hot although the wind is quite chilly

yea, im fried alright..

Here it is where we pose like we were in the Linkin Park album cover, trans version..with our Pak Supy as our photographer...hihihihih :P .

From one place to another Pak Supy drove us and our next destination is Telaga Warna (TheColor Lake) in Wonosobo. It is called that because the lake has several colors like green, blue, turqoise and some part seems like red from far. Maybe its due to the high concentration of sulfur in it as it was a lake that emerge from volcano eruptions. Jogja is also know for Merapi, a volcano that erupted few years ago, but we didn't go there cos we only have 4 days. maybe next time. Sooo, back to telaga warna, the lake is friggin beautiful, here is some photos of the lake.

pretty isn't it?

we walked surround the lake, like 1 big circle., and we found this area where it looks like hobbits place in Lord of The Ring..hahha..really, it was pretty, so without wasting any time, we started taking lots of pics around here. hehe.

and Jenny is the hobbit..ihihi

This lake is called a mirror lake as it splitted into 2 with lots of grass on it and we are standing in the middle of it. both sides have different colors, amazing isnt it. i guess that is why they call it 'Amazing Indonesia'..:D

So. we walk around the whole lake taking pics n selfie. as we were leaving the place, the guy from the registration counter (oh yeah the payment for all places in Dieng is around Rp40,000 and it was included in our package) , so the guy was like 'dari malaysia ya pak' asking our Pak Supy, and Pak Supy said 'yes' ..and the guy said 'cantik2 semuanya' ..means we are pretty, which i'm pretty sure he said that cos we were waria, which means transwomen in indonesia..hahahaha, but he was nice :).

So, we head to Wonosobo town for Lunch. the owner i guess have deals with the tour guides around jogja city so they will got discounts when they bring tourists. its okay for us as long as the place is nice. and yeah this place we had lunch is nice, like a house sort of and the waiter n waitress all dresses in their traditional Java clothes, which is quite exotic and the food was good too.

So after the lunch, Pak Supy drove us back to Hotel and we reach Pop Hotel around 8.00PM . So, we head to Malioboro streaat to buy our souvenirs and had dinner there. We walk inside the mall and we tried the Kopi Luwak, u know the coffee they took from a civet-like poops...yeah, at this time i don not know how not good the process were, so, i wouldn't recommend it though as we must have compassion for the animals, and we buying it will contribute to the demand. But here is the photo, so that u guys will know not to buy it.

The menu, expensive and it actually taste like any other coffee, so not worth it.

So we head back to hotel and hang out at the lobby while eating Kuaci (sunflowers seeds) and just gossiping and talking like typical girls. And then we went to our rooms and rest because we need to catch our flight back to KL in the morning. That morning we had our breakfast first, quite yummy as below, provided by Pop Hotel. Kopi Asyiik and Nasi wrapped in banana leaves. and take a taxi to Airport Adi Sucipto.

It was about 45minutes drive to the airport, we took hotel taxi btw, i cannot remember how much they charged, but it was not expensive. We took one last photo wearing the Borobudur tshirt hehe, soo typical...and we board the flight and landed safely at LCCT (yea KLIA 2 was not opened yet). Yeayy, Thank you Jogja for the experience!
