Hat Yai Chapter 1 (It's a Shopping & Food Heaven!)

Hey there people of the world!. This entry is pretty transparent, so it's kinda personal. But i wanna share my experience with you guys.

This was the first time i went to Thailand, although it is near Malaysian border. October 2013, i went to Hadyai not just for travel sake, i will be undergoing chondrolaryngoplasty surgery and Jaja who is also a transwomen will go for breast augmentation. So i am quite sure the terms is quite new..hehe. chondrolaryngoplasty means adams apple shaving surgery and breast augmentation is breast implants. Oooooh serious post this one, hihi.

Well we did travel around Hadyai as well. We took Air Asia flight from KLIA 2 to Hat Yai International Airport in Songkhla, it takes about 1 hour or so. (some spells it Hat Yai some Hadyai, idk).

We reach there and took a taxi to Lee Garden at the Hatyai center to meet our friend, Kak Linda. She traveled from Penang via van to Hadyai. TIPS: You can also drive here from Malaysia or take a van service from Penang and KL. But to drive through the border, you need to buy their travel insurance. There's also some fees for immigration forms n stuff about 2000baht if im not mistaken. This is all done at the border (ex: bukit kayu hitam) .

So, after we meet Kak Linda, we took Tuk Tuk, a common transport all over Thailand, to our hotel which is Hi-Season Hotel. TIPS: Discuss the fare of tuktuk first, sometimes they tend to mark up the fare.

our hotel

It was not in the center, so u need to take Tuk Tuk to go to the city center, which is near Lee Garden. After checked in and relax a lil, we went out to eat. My surgery was on the 3rd Day, Jaja's was the next day. So, we took this chance to explore HatYai that is known as food heaven. We took Tuk Tuk again, the fare is about 60 baht and above per ride, very fast..u get on it fast and get of it fast.. hahahah.

The fares in he Tuktuk

So we went to the Market, it is the biggest market in Hat Yai, it sells everything mainly clothes, shoes, kitchen utilities, etc. On the 2nd floor is the food courts. Various type of Siamese food. So we had our lunch here. and yes, it was sooo good!, the tomyam, the fish, everything is just so yummy! Me, a happy tummy. TIPS: To save the budget, eat here for good food at cheap price.

good food!

This is Kak Linda, our guide..hihihi..Kak Linda has been to Hadyai several times so she know this area quite so well.

After we had lunch, we went downstairs to the market and obviously you all know what happen next, SHOPPING! ...ehehehe. The fake handbags and many types of luggage bags are cheap,,but you must know how to bargain. I've Kak Linda for that..ekekeke :P.

bags bags bags

I ended up buying some bags, sandals and shoes, also some Bra's and undies. Cos its freakin cheap. like u can get 4 for 10,000 baht, like whatt??. Shop til you drop they say. I also bought myself Padding underwear for my butt to make it look bigger , Lmao! TIPS: For skinny girls, padding underwear can make your butt looks good in tight jeans, so the cheapest place to buy this is Hat Yai! .

one bargain done!

muncung

It was almost evening, so we decided to go back to  the hotel. We took tuk tuk again, the fares can be different, so u must ask first before ride, make sure u doesn't get cheated, We didn't bcos we have our superwoman, Kak Linda. hihi. We reached our hotel and freshen up..rest..after the sun set about 8PM plus, we get ready to go out again. To checkout Hat Yai nighlife.

But first, dinner! (yea i eat a lot here, i don't even know how my tummy can fit all that). We went to the area surrounding the market again. There was this night market for food, like food everywhere!. We enjoyed our Briyani Thai, which was awesome, and we bought ourselves some Pa Tang Ko, or cakoy. It is a traditional kueh, famous in south east asia. The Thai one, they dip it with a sauce called sekaya (mainly eggs and pandan). It was friggin delicious! i never had cakoy that was that delicious before. damn...Hat Yai is a food heaven. TIPS: For food lover, This place is a must!

This is where the food market is.

After we filled our girly tummy, we head to the center, walking. Check out the nighlife there which was full with Malaysian tourist..meh.

Hat Yai at night

We walked around and Kak Linda decided we went for a massage. I never really enjoyed massage bcos i often feel ticklish n sometimes it hurt. But i agreed o it, for experience. The massage place is call BudSaba, the owner is a Malaysian, a guy from Kuching, and Kak Linda know him. That's why we chose it. This is BudSaba.

BudSaba Massage
They ask us to change our pants to a more 'comfy' pants which is so loose for me as i am skinny. hash. Our masseuse is all men. none of the female masseuse  is available at the time. Their hand was so strong my godd..it hurts, when they pinch your legs..and they were quite fascinated by us and smiling to each other, looking at my chicken legs, haiyoo.. The guy starting massaging me everywhere. I actually asked just for foot massage, and i thought  he will only massage my feet.

my feet hurts bcos of the guy in green!
But ended up, he massage my whole body!. His hands was everywhere, grrr. He must be really enjoying it i guess cos he couldnt stop smiling happily. Kak Linda said maybe he was checking me to check whether im genetic or trans. Heyyy waddaf! .

He also grab my butt! , krik krik..watever. When they massage my head, that was the best part, it felt so good. The last massage is they will bend your body from behind..haha this was so unexpected, i almost scream. TIPS: So, if u guys wanna do the 'Thai massage', remember, 'the last bend' is the most extreme.

I felt like i 'lose my virginity' all over again..haha, kiddin!. He touched me almost all over my body including my boobs and i know he did that on purpose! .. i just know. So after all the pain, relieved and 'bending' , they gave us green tea, i think..it was some sort of tea. for us to gain energy maybe. So as i was standing up to go to the changing room to change back to my jeans. My 'loose pants' they gave me almost fall down!,  luckily i wear my padding underwear! i was right to bought i this afternoon!. It was quite hilarious when i think about it. I act cool like nothing happened, hehe..inside was burning..lol.

See my 'loose' flowery pants while drinking the tea after the monster massage session, and Jaja is taking selfie :P
We made payment, abut 300 to 500 baht i guess..i cant remember cos i was so tired and my feet hurts cos the guy pinched me so hard. We paid and continue walking, to the street food area. we sat down at a lay chee kang stalls and ordered the desserts. this is the only food in Hat Yai that was not good. doesn't really have a taste, filled with only colorful jelly, meh.

will not try this again

There were also elephants, Thailand as usual. For ppl to take photo with and maybe for children, they can ride. exploitation of animals as usual. So we went back to hotel after that, Jaja's surgery was the next day. She need rest and we were really tired after the massage.

See ya in the next exciting entry! (Read Here!).
