Bangkok Chapter 3 (Strolling in Silom and PatPong)

"One night in Bangkok can made a hard man humble", It's and old cliche from 'Chess', the musical. And we are about to explore 2 places in Bangkok that combines nightlife and market, Patpong & Silom.

out!

We went out around 7.30PM that night after an afternoon adoring the beauty of Wat Arun (click here to read it!). Instead of walking along the Thanon Surawong road, we took taxi to Silom night market. The fare is around 60Baht only.  TIPS: the nearest BTS station here is Sala Daeng, Silom line. for MRT is Silom station.

First thing first, dinner!. The only halal restaurant i can find in Silom night market area is Beirut Restaurant, so we had our dinner here. TIPS: For halal foodie, the Silom night market area only serve Arab and Indian halal food. But if you went further up outside from the night market area, you will find some halal Thai cuisine, but its a a bit of a walk. For fastfood lover, there is KFC and Pizza Hut in this area as well.

For me i dont really mind the halal status as long as the restaurant is clean and no exotic food in it,. But for most of my friend, they prefer the halal status, so we chose the Beirut Restaurant. They serve Lebanese food and a few arabian food as well. Almost 90% of the customers are either Arab or Pakistani. TIPS: The average meal in this place cost around 200THB, so it is not that cheap.

the 'beirut salad'

The 'appetizer' they serve is really interesting, combination of lebanese salad and tomatoes dip into spicy sauce is tasty. I had myself a beef wrap, which was quite big and hard to finish it. But it was good, you can really taste the spices. Jenny, Ija and the rest had some rice dishes. The service is quite slow to be honest and the problem is the waiters cant really understand English, communication is pretty hard.

Silom Night Market

We walked around Silom night market after we had our Lebanese dinner. They sell lots of thing from clothes, sunglasses, souvenirs, bags, finger food, you name it. They key of course is to bargain. TIPS: Honestly, the prices here is way higher than Chatuchak, the same sunglass you can get for 100THB in Chatuchak, over here they sell it for 250THB, like wattttt.

Along the road in Silom night market, is the massage houses. There are soo many massage centres here offering massages for foot, head and Thai body massage. From what i read, when u saw 'happy ending' massage, means its pretty much related to sex thingy. If you are into it, go on.

the famous PatPong

The other side of Silom night market is the infamous, Patpong. TIPS: Patpong and Silom night market are connected to each other in just a short walking distance. You know you are in Patpong when u see lots of bars like Go-Go and clubs with pole dancing girls everywhere, the night market is small.

I think i dont need to introduce Patpong anymore, haha. famous for clubs and bars of many kind. Pole dance, ping-pong show, boy show, girl show, bangkok ladyboy show, my oh my. As i walked, the club promoters keep showing the brochures to me. 'Mam u want boy show mam, ping pong show?'. lol!.

strolling in PatPong

We just walk around while 'browsing' the area with our eyes. Sometimes i wonder whether these girls do it for fun, willing to or they have no choice, maybe its how to make a living and support the family and themselves. I dont know, but i respect them and it takes lots of courage to dance semi naked on table! i envy the level of confident tho!

I did bought a small pouch here in Patpong night market. Souvenirs to my friends at work, rather than buying em fridge magnets, cliche. The owner of the stall is a transwoman, polite and friendly :).

PatPong night bazzar

After the 'cruise' along the market and bars, i wanted a foot massage so bad. Your night in Bangkok is incomplete without a Thai massage!. Jenny decided to had our massage session at massage centre name Thai Thai Massage in Silom. It looks decent and clean, so we go for it.

I was quite afraid at first as they only have male masseuse available. I remember it was painful when i had the foot massage by male masseuse in Hatyai. But the owner assured me i can ask for more gentle massage.

4 of us, Jenny, Sha, Sherry and me were given a place in the 3rd floor, while Bella and Dania in the 2nd floor. Ija and Aman chose not to do, so they just stayed downstairs while raping the free wifi, kikiki.

The masseuse starts with legs, i mean of course as it is called a foot massage, lol. I was soo glad cos it didn't hurt. In fact, it felt soo good. My masseuse have a 10 year experience in thai massage. He was around 35-40 yrs old i guess. He was the only one that can converse in English well, the rest were so-so.

Sha's masseuse are quite good looking, u can see it in Sha's face, smilingggg all the time, hihi. After 40minutes massaging the foot, he moved to arms for 10minutes and head / shoulder for 10 minutes. The best when he 'cracked' your joint and and back is a very very gentle way. Damn, that feels good!. After the massage, i can feel a huge pressure lifted up of my shoulder while drinking the chinese tea. I really recommend this massage house, they are professional and experienced, 5 stars!. TIPS: Don't forget to tip em, they wont ask, not at this place. But as a good gesture, i gave him a lil tips :). You can check out their official fb page here!

Thai Thai Massage that i <3

After the satisfying massage i had, we decided to rest at the hotel, via taxi of course. We had to bargain the fare with the taxi cos they dont wanna use meters, darn it. We agreed upon 100THB and the drivers agreed.

Reachin hotel all i can see is the bed, hahaha. I was sooo tired. Of course, 'wifi session' first as i want to post some photos on Instagram! hiks. Tomorrow we have a long journey, well not so long, haha. We will say goodbye to Bangkok for a while and say hello to Kanchanaburi.
