Amsterdam Chapter 3 (Waterlooplein-Leidseplein & The Infamous RLD)

9th June 2015, Wednesday, We woke up that morning with joy, as we had enough rest that night :D .. although one of the Brit guy keep snoring.  Sarah did talk to 2 of em that night i guess, they were also leaving the same day as us. (Read Chapter 2 here!)

First of all, we need cofffeeee. We get ready, walk down the creepy steep stairs and went to the coffee company. I love this coffee place. The cup can fit my whole face, huhuhu :P

After we we had our coffee, we made our way to Waterlooplein flea market. As usual, we walk based on the screenshot of google maps cos the tram confused us.

We arrived at Waterlooplein flea market, yeayy.. wow i love this place. U can find souvenirs, jacket, shoes, bla2 in cheaper price here. Some of the stalls were dutch owned, some were turks and african. There was this African fabric stall, very unique.. did Sarah bought one?, i cant remember. But its very unique.

Waterlooplein flea market!
We stopped at this stall selling jackets, u know the leather jacket in Malaysia is so expensive, over here is just 20euros, some 15euros.. like wattttt. I bought 1 and change it on the spot, hihi, Sarah bought the long jacket. i wanna buy more but my bag wont fit, ooh regret that.

jacket, african fabrics, souvernir, books, u name it
Bcos my feet is getting colder, i bought a shoe at this next stall. The owner of the stall were very friendly, very.. flirty as well. But he was so good, try to find shoes that suits n fits u. Both of us bought a pair of shoes, Sarah bought boots. Me, a shoe that is so comfy and i wear it till now. I said to him 'r u sure this will protect my feet from the cold' and he said 'yes, u can always trust they guy with blue eyes' ...lol! hahaha . But apparently he was right. He said, it only will get warmer on thursday or Friday..its always like that.

borong nampak!
I bought some fridge magnets for my friends here as well. TIPS: buy souvenirs and jackets here, its cheaper! .I bought myself the Amsterdam Plat. U can find beautiful shawls here too.. This is a must visit place in Amsterdam!

we love waterlooplein (thats the jacket i bought, pakai terus nok!)
We then made our way to Bloemenmarkt, a flower market. On our way, we saw the Rembrandthuis or Rembrandt house, its a museum that stores art from Rembrandt, Dutch Golden Age painter. We have limited time and budget, so we didnt go in. If you are an art lover, its worth the visit!.

Rembrandthuis
Bloemenmarkt is soo refreshing, flowers everywhere, tulips, roses, orchids, lavenders.. oooi, u hv no idea how lovely it was. But of cos u cant buy it cos by the time u arrive in Malaysia, it'll be a potpuri..kikiki. They sell seeds too, if u live in colder climate u can buy and plant it. They also sell fruits, i saw the cherries again, the one i ate in France..yummeh! I bought it :P

Tulips anyone?

i want this! - sarah

the cherries!!!
We got hungry afterwards, and i really need to pee as its hard to see public toilets here. We had our lunch at a restaurant near a square with an old castle-like building in the centre, near the oude Kerk, and we rape the restaurant wifi. lol. I had fish n chip, the food was quite a lot, hard for me to eat it all. We also ate the cherries there. hihi :P

I saw a cat there while eating, u rarely see cats n dogs here, maybe cos they control the population which is good. I saw one inside someone house near the window and this cat. fat cat..hihi..she stayed near the square in front of the restaurant. Choo cute.

the square where we find the fat amsy cat :P
yeay!!
This is the Oude Kerk, or Oude Church built in 13th century, i like the architecture of this building. Lots of ppl tho. I recommend u coming here, cos it feels like Europe in dark ages, ehehe..its nice really. TIPS: Walk along the historical part of Amsterdam to see the amazing architecture here,

Oude Kerk & Me :)
We were supposed to go to Rijksmuseum, but we were already late and it was closed. The walking alone already took 15minutes. So sad, the most famous museum in Amsterdam and we didn't go..sob sob. Oh well, what to do. TIPS! Rijksmuseum close early, so go in the morning to avoid crowds. U can also visit the Van Gogh Museum as its located near here as well.

inside the building, with words i dont understand on top of me
So we ended up taking pics at this famous sign of amsterdam. I amsterdam :D . There were lots of ppl homaigerdd. This is obviously the most cliche and a must do in Amsterdam, hahaha ;)

one of the pic, we took hundreds here,,,lol
Afterwards, we head to Leidseplein. This area is a hypp place in Amsterdam. the Hard Rock Cafe Amsterdam is located here as well. We hang out at Max Euweplein , in a coffee place near the big chess. Yup the big chess, located outside it where u can play chess with a complete stranger. The chess is as big as u..not as big n magical as Harry Potters tho, hihi :P But it was nice hanging out here. We saw 2 handsome gentlemen in suits riding a bicycle, hehe, rarely see that in Malaysia. Over here almost all of em owned bicycles. TIPS: This is a cool place to hangout in the afternoon for coffee!

Leidseplein, the big chess
We walked back to our hostel after that, its strange how Sarah can remember the road..lol. :P . We got some rest freshen up u know..we want to go hv dinner at Wok again. TIPS: Screenshot the road via googlemap to ensure you are walkig in the right way.

That night we had our dinner at Wok again, ehehe. wattt? its cheap! :) This girl saw us and sit with us, she actually stayed at the Central Hostel as well. She is from Mumbai, India. So we started talking and laughing. She also said 'i was not prepared for this weather'. She is a backpackers as well and travelling alone. We started walking together to the RLD as we wanna try the weed cake..hahaha.

I talked to Sarah sometimes in Malay and she asked what language are we speaking, hihi.. But we talk in English after that. We stopped at The Bulldog. It was one of the famous hostel and coffee shop in Amsterdam. Packed with people mostly youth,

We go inside..my god soo many people. We stand at the bar cos the chair is all occupied. Me and that Mumbai girl bought the weed cake. It was 7 euros each. The bartender said, this is made for ladies, one cupcake per serving. But since i'm afraid we will miss our flight tomorrow, i shared with sarah, altho i ate 70% of it.

Red light District

Sarah bought the weed cigarette. I didnt really feel anything different, just that i talked a lot. We hangout outside the bar with the Persian/Bosnian bodyguard and we chat alot, like alot...i usually dont talk that much, lol must be the weed. i feel embarassed...huhu.
TIPS: If you wanna try cake, do try it at the Bulldog, It's fun and relaxing. u can also see people from all over the world here. But do be alert and stay conscious for ur own safety.

The Bulldog club
We said to the Mumbai girl (i cant remember her name, must be the weed!) we need to head back as we are flying to London the next morning, and she said okay as she wanna hang out some more..mmhmm, wild girl she is..hehe. So we said goodbye.

Sarah was a bit dizzy from all the weed cigarette. Once we arrived, Sarah fall asleep. I pack my bag first as i dont wanna rush the next morning. The room was in a mess with the Brits, lol. The 2 british groups start talking to each other that night. Do u know that they didn't talk to each other from day 1 even they come from the same place. funny isn't it. They bumped in a bar, after that then they started talking.. meh.. young party people. TIPS: Try to find a different hostel (not filled with jus part people) if you have extra cash.

Both of us head to bed after that as tomorrow we will be flying to London baby!, see ya in my next post, The city of London.
