Bandung Chapter 2 (From Pasar Baru to Mangga Dua!)

Day 1 & 2 click here! < check out our story on FO's and Kawah Putih here!

Day 3 in Bandung, February 2015, which is our last day here. We woke up that morning and as usual breakfast first. The hotel provide us some nasi goreng. I got my caffeine which is the most important drink for starting a day for me (im caffeine addicted, puas ati kau). Pak Heri already awaited for us outside the hotel. The best story is still how Dina lure the indonesian guys into video chat :D ..'ya udah'..hihihihih

Our first destination today is Pasar Baru...yup, the most famous shopping centre in Bandung. 5 storeys (if im not mistaken). 20minutes drive and we reached there. Pak Heri park at the top floor and introduce us to his friend, a supir as well but he will take us to where we wanna go and will bring our thing. Kinda a shopping-helper..of cos we need to tip him later. I forgot what is his name actually. A very nice gentleman.

Pasar Baru, Bandung

We first go to the top floor shop, a place selling fabrics like laces and cottons and silks. Well this place is for Sha as she need to buy fabrics for her sister wedding. TIPS: Obviously this is the place where u can find lots of variety and cheaper price than Malaysia.

Sha did buy some fabrics here...i cant remember what she bought as we spent about 30minutes in here ONLY. hahaha

pemenang!

yea i got bored already

Then we walk in, there was an elevator but very small. The escalators as well quite small. But there were tonnes for shops for fabrics, bags, telekungs and others. TIPS: Damn if u have money and wanna but fabrics, please do come here. Beware as well for the pickpocket. Thats why its better to have 'pendamping'...yess they call the guy who carry ur things pendamping..scary isnt it..hahaha..but good service.

We went to few shops mostly who provide bridal fabrics like lace for Sha's sister's wedding with Jenny as the advisor, tiber hihi. Most of em can convert rupiah to RM in an instant maybe cos they are pro at selling this stuff to Malaysian. Over here, they also give u small mineral water if u come into their premises. save ur money to buy water..lol. We spent hours finding the lace for Sha, haggling and haggling, tawar tawar tawar..also some flirting to get cheaper price...ahahahaha...well some they give lower price some not. The place where we spent the longest time, Sha didn't really buy much..hihi.. ayoo lah.

But we went to this shop named JaiHo... TIPS: remember this shop 'Jaiho' . This shop provides good fabrics at good price! really..

The owner is pakistani..mmmmhmmm they are now opening shop in indonesia too, not just Malaysia esp Nilai anymoreeee..hahaha. The owner was nice, the staff were really friendly. They ended up taking pictures with us, the boy called me supermodel india..like..okay. But it was a really great shop compared to the rest.

this is the name card

the best place to shop for fabrics, trust me!

They are also shop that sells variety of bags from purses to luggages. It is cheap, but we dont hv that much money anymore, haha..i forgot what the name of the shop, but it was huge, u can see from far all kind of bags. U need to haggle okay, tawar tawar as much as u can. They also sell souvenirs obviously. TIPS: For souvenirs, compared to other places, its cheaper here and u can buy in bulk..especially tshirts and keychains/magnets.

Lots of bagsss
bandung shirts, very freakin cheap

They also sell lots of telekung, the colored, non colored, cotton etc..Jenny bought it as gifts as u will be given more discounts of u buy more. rather than giving magnets n tshirts to some ppl, u can buy the travel telekungs in bulk, like 10 in 1 set..or 5 in 1 set and it will cost u around RM10 or less for 1. its really worth it. I bought for my mum n sis.

Bcos our stuff is a lot, hahahaha lots of things to bring back to KL, we bought this bags where u can put your stuff in it, The boys will sell it around the Pasar Baru..u can see em holding the carry bags around..its around RM3 i think for medium size and RM7 for large size..u can put all ur goods in there and zip it, very easy.

So, our pendamping brought all of our thing to the van where our supir is waiting, after the shopping of cos. So we tip him, as he was very nice and kind. I adore ppl like this, working very hard for living, instead of those rempit and ragut people who bring problem to others.

We then had our lunch at a Sundanese restaurant, Rumah Makan Karamba. quite a good restaurant, middle to high class. Sunda food are quite similar to Malay food to be honest, but i love it. We ordered less expensive food, haha cos we are running low on rupiahs. The word written at the door is Hatur Nuhun, means Thank You in Sunda. Of course we 'robbed' the wifi first before going..hahaha..

Hatur Nuhun

After lunch, we went to Kartika Sari. now for those who eat delicious indonesian cakes during Raya and asked where did u buy this? it is from Kartika Sari. A brand well known for its cakes. The store is huge, double storeys offering varieties of cakes and biscuits. My god, die..hahaha.

cakes time!

Its self service so we took our basket and start filling it with cakes that we want. The prices are already written on the package. TIPS: Kartika Sari is delicious, must try. They also provide packaging service to ship it (cargo) if u buy a lot. so dont worry if u plan to buy a lot and bring it home with u. Either u take the package with u or u asked them to send to home country address (malaysia, brunei, singapore etc) with fees la of course.

We took selfies there too..haha..like azam try very hard to take a good pic with the big sign of 'Kartika Sari' on top of the building..hihihihi, gigih berhasil.

The azam mission

We loaded into he van and then Pak Supir start driving us to Jakarta as our flight is tomorrow morning from Sukarno Airport.

The road from Bandung to Jakarta is Traffic Hell! the traffic was sooooooooooooooo bad my dear..so bad..it almost not moving at all. There was soo many vehicles on the road. it was like bumper car competition going on on the road..lol. lots of lorries as well.

Can u imagine, there is a toll plaza, which if u walk by foot u will reach within 10minutes...but we saw the toll plaza in daylight..and we only pass it after the sun has set..for the love of God, Jakarta! the worst traffic i've seen in my whole life.

finallyyyy!

There goes our plan to hang out around Jakarta, especially Mangga Dua area as our hotel located in that area. After we 'suffocated' in the van for almost 4 hours plus! (we did stop for air at some Rnr sort of). TIPS: Do Not, I repeat Do Not drive from Bandung to Jakarta, if you wanna visit Bandung, book flight directly to Bandung.

After the 'hell traffic' we reached Mangga Dua area. Jakarta is quite develop ay..but no light rail for transportation. We checked in to our hotel, Rumah Shinta..mmhmm classic name, love it..lol.

The hotel was fine, 2 - 3 star, we rented 2 rooms, each for 4 persons. Bcos its just for one night, tomorrow morning we will heading to airports. It was okay, comfortable to sleep in. The receptionist is very friendly and attend to all our queries. Although he kept silent for a while when he saw my passport as the booking was made in my name,.meh..

us finally reach our hotel in jakarta!

Our hotel obviously this pic was taken the next morning

We asked him, where to walk around at night and he said most malls already closed, we can go to one mall, mangga dua square i guess. we took the tuk tuk there..yup tuk tuk still here..The tuk tuk was a fun ride..haha..with the lights  so colourful and the indonesian dangdut songs playing...hahahaha..so fun!

We had a great time in it, and the best thing is the driver just drive happily and when the destination reached, u paid and get down :D . I hav a video in the jakarta tuktuk.

We reached mangga dua square, the smell is horrible. It was the river..or used to be one..like a huge drain. Such a sad state, this ppl really cannot take care of their river. It was sooo bad, so polluted, so stink..i pity mother nature, we are the worst species every existed in planet earth.

Mangga Dua Squaree

We got into the mall and most shops already closed, thanks to the traffic. We eat at the Burger King as that was the only restaurant open..even the order is very late bcos we were their last customers and the kitchen is at the 2nd floor..how weird. when u ordered they need to go to 2nd floor to take it and send it to u..so yeah,

We talked and eat our burgers that arrived late. And then in order for us to take our tuktuk, we need to cross the road using the flyover. There was kids up there...walk beside u singing, while holding cans for tips, it was a very sad situation u know..but u cant give any to em cos if u  do, u put urself in danger. Population control is a must!.

We got off the flyover, we took tuk tuk back to our hotel. We already told the receptionist that we wanna book transport to the airport and he had arranged it, we just need to pay. it was about RM40 a car. so not that expensive.

We packed all our thing that night, the problem was Sha. She bought so many things and didnt buy enough luggage on the plane, so we had to pack her things a lil in each of our luggage..ayoo la Sha.,.hahaha..but nonetheless, we had a good sleep that night.

yup, our luggage, meh.

That next morning, our transport already awaits us..so we check out and head to the airport. Jenny said, she talked to the boy who drove the car and she said, that boy bought the car with 3 yrs loan..wow..cos the interest is high, so the ppl there paid high for 3 yrs so they dont have to pay more..unlike us here, our car loans can reach 9 yrs, like me...still not finish! hahahah..

We got into our flights from CGK and reach KLIA 2 safely. We checked into Malaysian custom and immigration, Sha got stopped by em and the officer asked her to open the luggage. There was lots of fabrics for her sis wedding. So the officer asked, are u sellig this, why do u buy so much. So, Sha said it was for her sis wedding and combines with ours (yea right). so the officer let her go. TIPS!- if u wanna buy a lot and avoid urself of getting taxed, put in separate luggages, ur friends, so, they cant charge u..remember :D...until my next post, have a great day!
