Manila Chapter 2 (Mall of Asia - Manila Bay)

That morning of 5th November 2014, we woke up late, hehe..maybe cos i was no longer in the mood..but mostly cos we're tired. The time in Manila is the same with KL..but, at 5.30am the sun already rise..compared to KL. we woke up around 10am which pretty much 12o'clock in KL..hahahhahahah. We actually have no plans for today..only tonight we will go lepak at SM Mall of Asia. Oh yea, all malls here start with SM which i dont know why.

So, we woke up..Kak ani practically force us to wake up, cos he wanna go to shopmore souvenir for his friendssss..So, we woke up and get ready, we go to Baclaran. But before we go, the receptionist already said to us, take care of belongings and put back in front...Manila, a city that is never safe, that should be their tagline.

We take cab to Baclaran cos from Makati u need to take 2 jeepney there, cos as i said, that side of Manila is this high end side of Manila dont mix, i understand why now, safety. maybe cos filipino and crime is inseparable..(im still furious)..lol. So,we arrive Baclaran..the area where there lots of shops and very busy district. pack with people and dirty as usual. I already told kak ani, i dont wanna spend hours here, u just buy what u need and we leave. Kak ni started to buy tshirts, lots of tshirts here, lots lots of em. and its very cheap too. Kak ani again, try to check that shop n this shop..i said again, dont delay..just buy..cos he keep hesitating. Bless also look tired.

There's one lil boy that when we were walking, touch me with his finger, maybe to make sure i was real, as my skin color is different from them. Yes, that is how non-exposure of the outside world they are, i feel sad for them too actually, hope they have better life in future. They also sell this kueh, like karipap (currypuff). I bought 2 to try...it taste a lil different from our Karipap, potato still..but different in spices, our taste better :P hahhahhaah.

SO, i had it and i said kak ani, i will go now if u still wanna spend time at this pack place, i just got snatched last night and i am not comfortable at places like this. But honestly, Baclaran is better than Divisoria. So kak ani just buy the tshirts and some fridge magnets, and we take the cab to Mall of Asia (MOA). Phew, i feel so relieved getting out of that place. As u can see no pics there, cos i will never take my phone out of my sling bag..never.

MOA, Mall of Asia

MOA is a very big mall actually, now this area is safe, yeay!...guards everywhere and the people seem more civilised (i know i sound cruel, but i see it that way that time, even the same kind of ppl exist everywhere on earth). So we walk around this mall, but we had our lunch first at a fastfood restaurant. fries and some chips. The mall have some known brands, some maybe local brands, but the interior is quite nice as it reaching December, the decoration of Christmas already started.

the entrance of MOA

Christmas is a major celebration here, as majority of the population is catholic. We saw the souvenir shop Kultura Filipina..so we went in, and the souvernirs here is a lot and its actually not that expensive!, fuck if we know earlier, there's no need to go to divisoria and baclaran! ..seriously, i would recommend this place if u guys wanna buy souvenir, its safe, comfortable, affordable and lots of choices.

me likey Kultura Filipina

Me, i just some tshirt for myself which i still love until now because of the type of fabric they used, very comfy. I also got myself a necklace. That's all. Now Kak ani, he is a whole different story..the trolley was packed, he picked up lots of thing, kak ani and extreme shopping is inseparable. The most expensive thing he bought is a traditional clothe for filipino man called the Barong, made of fabrics that is quite rare if u ask me, nice.

He first take from the first row, a salesgirl...but as he walk, he found another row, which is more cheaper, different design, a salesman.and he thought, okay this is cheaper, and the salesman keep on promoting it. Than, the salesgirl come and start promoting her Barong again. I was like, wait...aren't this the same shop..well it turn out each rows is from different designer, so the sales is not the same..that's why they were trying so hard to promote their line..although the uniform is the same. This is weird! hahaha..well luckily its not me. Kak Ani face the 2 salesperson and being kak ani, always hesitate and take 100yrs to make a decision, me and Bless step in and gave him our advise. after almost an hour and a half..yes, u heard it right, an hour and a half! ..he finally decided to take the one from the salesman..i said to both of em, 'you are not gonna fight with each other right?'...hahaha..they just laughed and said it happens always, bcos the salesgirl is the one manage to sell it before the salesman promote his at the next row. meh, u guys should just combine it under 1 sales. oh well.

We actually spent almost 3 hours there..mainly bcos of Kak ani..my waist already hurt and me and bless go sit outside. What i like about Kultura Filipina is each hour they will do Pilipinas dance, i have it on video here.

Kultura Filipina staff starting to dance

I think its very unique, for them to rehearse and dance every 1 hour, good for the staff as well, they seem to have so much fun!. Very impressive, very interesting. At the end they say 'Mabuhay Maganda Apok' i guess...means welcome ladies and gentleman. As most of the shoppers here are foreigners, so its good for em to show their culture, well the name of the place is Kultura Filipino...hihi..one of the white guy look at me twice after i speak..maybe he was like 'looks like a girl, voice like a guy, very confusing'..:p hihi..But the people here is very friendly, they don't really stare at you, i guess they are used to diverse people. I love Kultura Filipina! a must if u come here.

So after that, it already dark..kak ani shopped from daylight to dark..hahahahaha..we went outside to Manila Bay..its pretty much like Gurney Drive in Penang. From MOA there is a elevated walkway to Manila Bay..we have Bless to show the way, hehe..

from the walkway facing Manila Bay

There was this fun fair there, lots of kids having fun..and as you walk along the beach way, there is lots of pubs, bar and restaurants and they will offer you their menu and all. The beach is smelly btw.

along the road, coastline

There is also a train..hahaha yup a train, very different. The train will bring you around the area..we didn't ride it but it surely looks fun.

Train comes i dunno its destination - sugababes

We ended up having some juices and snacks at one of the restaurants there..talking about Kultura incident..lol..after a while, we head back to MOA inside entrance for taxis..we saw few mideastern here too..maybe students. I asked Bless to hold thetaxi and i know they always lie when they saw my foreign face..after Bless asked the price, we come..guess what? the moment that fuckin taxi driver saw us, he said 'owh have to add 50pesos more for traffic'..like wtf, that is what your meter are for!..fuck these ppl man, lying is their nature..i know now how tourists in Malaysia feels being cheated by our Malaysian taxi drivers as ours are also worse.

The open air area of MOA

Why cant u guys just be honest earn a living, i thought that is what religion teach u...clearly when it comes to money, Jesus and Allah doesn't mean anything anymore..sigh. We take another taxi home, also cheated, in the end'add another few pesos from the meter reading' u guys should are full of shit, that's all. We paid as he might need to eat sand afterward maybe. We got into the hotel and rest...Bless said in Philippines this always happen. that night Bless told us about her stories too, we share some experience..tomorrow we will be heading back to KL.

That morning, 6th November, we took cab from our Makati hotel to airport, Bless took another taxi to town to go back to her house in the suburb. Our flight was around 11am. We checked in our luggage, luckily Kak Ani's luggage isn't over weight..hihi. We got on the flight and arrive KL around 4PM. Kak Ani met some of his friends in KLIA2, oh yea Kak Ani work as immigration officer. We left the airport and first thing we look for is Nasi Campur!...hahahaha...damn i was so hungry, missed our Malaysian food, the best ever!

So. will i come back to Manila again? hmmm maybe not...but who knows! :D
